Full-scale experimental site for high-frequency monitoring and 3D modelling of ecological functioning in small urban lakes

Résumé

The concern for the protection and management of urban receiving waters increases worldwide because they provide essential ecosystem services. The scarcity of reliable data limits the knowledge and the transfer of research outcomes to management decision-making. We present a high-frequency and high-resolution monitoring setup deployed on a small urban lake. We first depict how the dataset allows us to understanding the lake ecological dynamics. A reliable calibration and validation of a 3D hydrodynamic and ecological model were then performed. The model was used for simulating cyanobacterial blooms. These modelling outcomes can be used for decision-making in the lake management.
