Las clases socio-territoriales entre movilidad metropolitana y repliegue barrial. ¿Tienen los pobladores pobres una movilidad urbana de clase?

Abstract : The variety of ranges, modalities and meanings of metropolitan daily travels depends on numerous and combined factors. When confronting daily mobilities and other relationships between an individual and the urban territory, especially the house conceived as its practical and symbolic axis, individual territorial configurations appear and reveal the meaning of urban -both daily and residential- (in)mobilities. The case of low-incoome households settled in a suburban neighbourhood of Santiago, Chile, expose several configurations between the neighbourhood withdrawal and the metropolitan mobility. Each one of these two poles can be read as the product of a peculiar distribution of socio-economic resources, which refers to an opposition between social classes: lower-local class and middle-metropolitan class. The dwellers with more community resources move within their neighbourhood, whereas the ones with more individual resources travel at a metropolitan range. But a life cycle analysis reveals that age provokes the local withdrawal too. Each interpretation complements the other one and describe the ambivalent inclusion of low-income dwellers simultaneously in their city and in their class, which leads us to consider a so-called "middled" class.
