A small scale viscoelastic model in fracture mechanics. Subcritical growth

Abstract

Introducing viscous cohesive forces into Barenblatt's theory, we show how to take into account viscoelastic effects occurring at the tip of a moving crack. Moreover the existence of these small scale viscous effects could explain its subcritical growth.
